Omaha’s Old Market was alive with celebration Saturday for the city’s 147th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The event is organized by the Father Flanagan Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Omaha, a group dedicated to promoting Irish culture and Catholic faith while supporting local charities.
From lively dance performances to heartfelt tributes to fallen heroes, the parade offered a mix of entertainment and tradition.
Volunteer Marilou Lonergan, who has been involved for over 15 years, shared why she keeps coming back.
“It’s just plain old fun. When the weather is like this—beautiful and sunny—everyone comes together to kick off the spring season and celebrate a little Irish cheer. Everybody’s got a smile on their face, just having a good time,” Lonergan said.
Parade festivities also included a competition, where trophies were awarded for the best float, best costume, and best musical performance.
