An adult in south central Nebraska has died from influenza A, according to the Two Rivers Public Health Department. The announcement was made on Monday.
The flu-related death occurred within the department’s jurisdiction, which includes Buffalo, Dawson, Franklin, Gosper, Harlan, Kearney, and Phelps counties.
While cases of influenza A have been declining, infection rates remain more than 150% higher than last year, health officials reported. They continue to stress that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the flu.
Flu vaccines are available at all district clinics. Residents can schedule an appointment by calling 888-669-7154.
