As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) confirmed that Interstate 80 is now fully open across the state after being shut down due to blizzard conditions.

Previous Closures

  • I-80 was closed in both directions from Lincoln’s NW 48th Street to Grand Island due to snow, ice, and reduced visibility.
  • Highway 34 from Eagle to Highway 50 was also shut down.
  • NDOT crews worked through the night to clear roadways.

Current Travel Conditions

  • Roads remain slick and snow-covered in some areas.
  • Drivers are urged to use caution, as high winds may still create blowing snow and reduced visibility.
  • Travelers can check NDOT’s 511 map for real-time road updates.
