Community activist Jasmine Harris has officially entered the 2025 Omaha mayoral race, submitting the required signatures Tuesday at the Douglas County Election Commission.
Harris previously ran in 2020-21 and says she is running again to represent people who feel left out of Omaha’s future.
Key Issues in the Race
- Homelessness: Harris defended Omaha’s Homeless Services Coordinator, Tamara Dwyer, after former State Sen. Mike McDonnell called her a “DEI hire” and said he would fire her if elected. Harris dismissed the comment as a baseless attack.
- Campaign Finances: Incumbent Mayor Jean Stothert has reported $614,000 in campaign funds, strengthening her bid for a fourth term.
