Two Omaha dancers are preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime as they head to Dublin, Ireland, for the 2025 World Irish Dance Championships.
Anna Napora and Teagan Rossitto, who both come from strong Irish backgrounds, have spent years honing their skills. Rossitto’s journey began at just two years old when her mother brought her to an Irish dance group at a local coffee shop.
“I just remember sitting there with all the other kids, listening to the music and watching the dancers. I loved it so much,” Rossitto said.
What started as a hobby turned into a deep passion. Now, both dancers are among a select few making their way to the international stage.
A Rare Opportunity
“Only one percent of Irish dancers ever qualify for this competition, so it’s a pretty big deal,” said Shannon Ryan-Stamper, owner and coach at Craoi na Tire Studio of Irish Dance.
Napora and Rossitto are the only two dancers from Omaha competing in the event. Their coach emphasized the global nature of the championships, which attract competitors from South Africa, Mexico, Australia, and beyond.
The duo earned their spots at Regionals in Illinois, a milestone that has fueled their dedication.
“Once I got that qualification, it pushed me to work even harder,” Rossitto said.
Intense Preparation
Both dancers are now training up to six days a week to prepare for the competition.
“I’m blessed to even compete now. I’m just happy to be there,” Napora said.
For Napora, this will be her first time on the world stage. Rossitto, however, is returning for her second appearance.
“This time, I’m back with more of a competitive mindset,” Rossitto said.
Grateful for the opportunity, both dancers are counting down the days until the championships in April.
